ISF Board Member Johan Andersson took the initiative for the national skateboarding association in Sweden around 15 years ago with the main goal to have skateboarding recognized by The Swedish Sports Confederation (Riksidrottsförbundet) the umbrella organization for the swedish sports movement formed in 1903. The first formal application was made in 2004 and although it was denied at the time it was clear that it would only be a matter of time. Fast forward until late April 2013 the board of directors (Riksidrottsstyrelsen) finally approved skateboarding.

Important changes are taking place in our organisation. Since 2008, we were designated Extreme Sports Association of Maputo-City, and we've been featuring Skateboarding, Bmx and Roller Blade. As time passes, the number of riders from each specialty grew. On the other side, we were facing some difficulties to affiliate on institutions such as the ISF - INTERNATIONAL SKATEBOARDING FEDERATION, or UCI - UNION CYCLISTE INTERNATIONALE, because each deal wich only one modality. So, we decided to restart and create two institutions from this, wich would be Association of Skateboarding of Mozambique -ASM and Cycling Association of Maputo. ASM already has the approval/dispatch of the ministry of justice.
